Report: Winner named in Everton and Leeds United race to sign Champions League player

Everton are ramping up their summer spending now that we’re in a new financial year.

Thierno Barry is set to join Everton after a prolific season in La Liga with Villarreal, so he will become the second arrival of the summer after Carlos Alcaraz.

David Moyes is exploring a deal to sign Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town, with the Championship outfit demanding around £25-30m for his signature.

West Bromwich Albion’s Tom Fellows and Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo are also on Moyes’ radar as he looks to strengthen out wide.

Everton want to sign a left-back, too, and now there is a fresh update on one of their reported targets.

Winner named in Everton and Leeds United race to sign Gabriel Gudmundsson

Everton have been showing an interest in Gabriel Gudmundsson this summer, who will be allowed to leave Lille for a discounted fee.

That’s because his contract expires next year, which has alerted the likes of Leeds United and Wolves, too.

Unfortunately for Moyes and his Everton chiefs, Leeds are now closing in on the signing of Gudmundsson after agreeing a £10m transfer with the French outfit.

The 26-year-old will now fly into England to undergo a medical at Thorp Arch, leaving the Toffees with work to do.

Everton could turn to Victor Kristiansen

After missing out on Gudmundsson, Everton could now turn their focus to Victor Kristiansen, who is of interest to Moyes.

Leicester City are expected to move on a number of first-teamers this summer after suffering relegation to the Championship.

Kristiansen is one who could be allowed to leave, with Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and Sunderland also circling his signature.

Moyes is an admirer of the Denmark international and for the right price, it could be a smart signing given his age.

The 22-year-old is still learning his trade and has shown promise, despite operating in a struggling Foxes side.
