David Ornstein shares big late-night Leeds transfer update, personal terms agreed for next…

Leeds United have made a £12m bid to sign Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff, journalist David Ornstein has revealed.

The Whites have reportedly proposed an offer worth £10m plus £2m in add-ons for the 'incredible' English midfielder, having identified him as a prime target to add quality and experience to their team.

Longstaff is believed to have already agreed personal terms over a move to Elland Road this summer and is now awaiting Newcastle’s decision – the club have already rejected two previous offers from Leeds.

Leeds’ third offer worth £12m is ‘close to the limit’ of how much the club are willing to invest in Longstaff, and the Whites are already looking at other candidates in case their pursuit hits a stumbling block.

Longstaff is into the final 12 months of his contract at Newcastle and is not expected to pen an extension, having struggled for regular game time under Eddie Howe last season.

The 27-year-old reportedly wants to depart for a fee this summer and see his boyhood club compensated, rather than leave on a free transfer after next season.

Longstaff has racked up 171 Premier League appearances for the Magpies since making his first-team debut in the 2018/19 season, scoring 10 goals and providing nine assists.

His experience is said to be a key factor for Leeds, who have been busy in the summer market recently, with three new arrivals already confirmed.

The Whites have signed striker Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer, and acquired defenders Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw from Udinese and Wolfsburg, respectively.
