West Ham should consider asking Tottenham to send a winger their way as part of the Kudus deal.
West Ham should consider requesting a player swap as part of the proposed Mohammed Kudus deal. Tottenham now look as though they could be the frontrunners to sign the winger despite interest from Chelsea this summer.
According to TalkSport, Spurs submitted a cheeky offer worth £50million plus a further amount in add-ons, but it’s claimed the add-ons were conditional on Tottenham winning the Premier League or Champions League. Neither of those feats look to be realistic, and so the Hammers have reportedly made it clear to Tottenham that they want to be guaranteed £60million if they are going to sell one of their most talented players this summer.
Spurs might not want to pay more than £50million, so West Ham could consider getting the missing £10million or so in player value. One player they could consider is winger Mano Solomon, who could add more pace and production to the wide positions.
Solomon spent last season on loan with Leeds United and has been linked with a return. The Israeli scored 10 and assisted 12 in 39 Championship appearances for Leeds, and he was hailed for his consistency by Whites boss Daniel Farke. He said at the end of last season: “It’s impressive, especially when you keep in mind what happened last season. He’s shown unbelievable consistency. He’s not in the official team of the season but he's been outstanding with important goals. He always came back and delivered. I don't have to look after him. The fire is always burning, simetimes you have to channel it a bit.”
Solomon joined Tottenham for free, and given they want to sign Kudus, it seems he won’t have a place there in the coming season. Spurs have nothing to lose and plenty to gain by selling the 25-year-old. West Ham, meanwhile, would be adding depth out wide while bringing in a big fee to further strengthen their Kudus-less winger department and other areas within their squad.
What has Solomon said?
Speaking to LeedsLive about his future at the end of the season, the winger said: “I think it's the first time in my career that I will have such a long summer. I think almost two months. I'll have the national team break in between. But I haven't been home since June - or I've only been home just maybe 40 hours. So I'm looking forward to [the summer]. It's been a long time and I just want to celebrate with my friends and my family.”
Asked about whether he had early talks over his future, he added: “No, not yet. Honestly, I really don't know what's going to happen in the summer. I still have three years left on my contract with Tottenham, so at the moment we really don't know. So far I've been always only focused on the season and what we want to achieve, and still we have an important game to go.
“And I think that after this game [vs Plymouth Argyle on Saturday], then we will start to think about my future. But so far, I've been only focused on the right now.”
