Darwin Nunez receives new Napoli offer as fresh bid submitted

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has become the center of Napoli’s transfer plans as the Italian side pushes ahead with a new bid.

According to reports (via Gianluca Di Marzio), Napoli have submitted an offer worth €50 million plus €5 million in bonuses, hoping to land the Uruguayan forward ahead of the 2025/26 season.

But whether that is enough to convince Liverpool remains unclear.

Nunez’s time at Anfield has been a mixed journey. Signed in 2022 for a hefty package from Benfica, he has delivered some important moments but has often struggled with consistency.

A fresh start under new head coach Arne Slot didn’t change much for him, which could eventually result in a summer exit.

Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, have apparently made the 26-year-old their top priority. The club is looking to add firepower after a strong domestic season and ahead of their return to Champions League football.

Conte sees Nunez as a perfect fit for his attacking plans.

Still, the deal is far from done. While Napoli’s bid is serious, Liverpool are expected to hold out for closer to €60–70 million.

As it stands, there is a gap between the offer and what the Reds want — and time is ticking as the new season nears.

Why Napoli wants Darwin Nunez?

Conte believes Nunez has the power and pace to lead Napoli’s attack. As per previous reports, Nunez has shown interest in the move.

He is said to be excited about playing in Italy and working under Conte. Former teammate Walter Gargano added fuel to the story, saying Nunez is “waiting to close with Napoli.”

But Napoli are also being careful. They have been reportedly in talks with Udinese over a cheaper option — Lorenzo Lucca.

The Italian forward would cost nearly half the price. This puts Liverpool under pressure. If they wait too long or reject the current offer, Napoli may walk away and focus on Lucca instead.

Liverpool’s summer plans could depend on what happens next. The club has already spent heavily and is reportedly looking to bring in more players. A sale now could help fund other moves. But only if the price is right.

If Napoli increases their bid or adds better bonus terms, Liverpool may agree to sell. If not, Nunez could still be part of Arne Slot’s vision — at least for now.
