Bayern Munich want Marcus Rashford which gives Man Utd an opportunity to land a serial winner and upgrade the attack.
Manchester United’s need to get new faces in the door has never been more pressing, not just that, but new faces who can be trusted to hit the ground running.
The signing of maverick Matheus Cunha is low risk as is the saga that is agreeing a fee for Bryan Mbeumo, both have proven that they can handle the demands of the Premier League even if they have yet to contend with 70,000 fans judging their every move, every second week.
The problem that Ruben Amorim has if Mbeumo finally signs, is that he won’t be able to spend any more money until others are moved out the door. The squad will also be massively too heavy in terms of the forward line.
Five players have asked to leave United and there are doubts about both Joshua Zirkee and Rasmus Hojlund in terms of their ability to lead the Red Devils to sustained success. The attacking pair have the right attitude; but so far they haven’t shown anywhere enough to justify their transfer fees or wages.
Marcus Rashford to Bayern Munich could solve a lot of problems
Of the players who could leave, Marcus Rashford has interest from Bayern Munich due to the departure of Leroy Sane and will be well known to both Vincent Kompany and Harry Kane. The German giants are also one of a handful of clubs who could afford him.
Barcelona are also keen to take Rashford and the collapse of their move for Nico Williams might bump the United forward up the pecking order. However, Luis Diaz of Liverpool is reportedly the Spanish’s clubs top target.
Dealing with Munich though, there is an opportunity for United to get a player off the wage bill who doesn’t want to be at the club whilst bringing in one who has an enviable CV.
In 12 out of the last 13 seasons Kingsley Coman has won a domestic league title in either France, Italy or Germany playing for three of the biggest clubs on the continent. He has also won a Champions League, Club World Cup and been runner up in both a World Cup and European Championships.
Is Coman open to leaving Bayern?
In short, Coman is the experience that Amorim needs, even if the player himself doesn’t think that he is going anywhere: “No one came to me and said I had to leave. I’d like to stay. The coach has always told me that he needs me. I still have two years left on my contract – but in football, you can never be 100% sure.”
Speculation has increased that Coman could be following Sane to Turkey, however, with Munich being keen on Rashford and if the France international is allowed to leave, Jason Wilcox should be picking up the phone.
The injury sustained by Jamal Musiala might be a sticking point, however, as harsh as it sounds, that isn’t United’s problem.
If United wanted to catch the teams at the top end of the Premier League, they need to sign players who could get a game for them.
