West Ham look set to cash in on Nayef Aguerd this summer.
The Hammers are in need of defensive recruits after conceding 62 goals in the Premier League, which was the sixth-worst tally.
The 29-year-old impressed on loan at Real Sociedad, but it does not look like that was enough to convince Graham Potter that he should remain in East London.
He has been linked with a move to Bayer Leverkusen; however, his next destination could be a lot closer to home, with Sunderland ready to pounce.

Sunderland eyeing Aguerd swoop as West Ham exit on the cards
Aguerd has failed to make an impact at the London Stadium since his move from Rennes in 2022, and it seems that he will not be given the chance to turn his fortunes around.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Santi Arouna has reported (7 July) that the Moroccan centre-back has emerged as a target for newly-promoted Sunderland.
He states that Aguerd has not decided his next destination, with the likes of Marseille, AS Roma, AC Milan and Real Sociedad also interested.
West Ham to come out on top with Aguerd sale
The sale of the underperforming star could benefit the Irons massively, as they would get a decent fee for his services, given the level of interest.
If they can recoup a similar amount to the £30million that they forked out for him, it would represent a great piece of business for David Sullivan and Co.
Aguerd is one of a few saleable assets in the squad, including Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez, who could be sold to raise funds after underwhelming campaigns last time out.
Potter could then use that money to revamp his squad and bring in the required talent to ensure that they do not finish in the bottom six once again.
The Hammers have been linked with the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Charlie Cresswell to bolster their defence, and either of those options would be an upgrade on the Moroccan.
One thing is for sure: if Potter cannot shift the deadwood and bring in the required quality of players, then it will be another long season for the E20 outfit.
