have already brought to Old Trafford . Now, United are looking to strengthen their squad again with further new signings.

and key figures upstairs will be busy looking ahead to the start of the Premier League campaign - which kicks off on August 17 at home to Arsenal. United will therefore be looking to make further signings before the Old Trafford opener, while also being mindful of the September 1 transfer deadline.

Here, The Manchester Evening News takes a closer look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that has generated headlines over the last 24 hours;

Bryan Mbeumo update emerges

An update has emerged regarding United's quest to sign Brentford star Mbeumo. United have now had two offers rejected for the Cameroon international, but are still determined to bring him to Old Trafford.

The i Paper have reported that Mbeumo is still no closer to joining United, with two other deals said to be playing a role in that delay. The report claims that Chelsea's move to sign Joao Pedro for £60million and Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga being the subject of a £55million bid from Newcastle is evidence of Brentford sticking to their valuation for Mbeumo.

As a result, the Bees are reported to be demanding a fee in excess of £60million straight-away for Mbeumo before the topic of add-ons is discussed.

United are certainly determined to sign Mbeumo this summer, but it seems a deal is taking some time to be finalised. If Brentford's price tag demands are being effected by deals elsewhere, it's no surprise to see a delay in an agreement being reached.

Man Utd 'close' to finalising transfer

United are reportedly showing interest in signing Valencia star Javi Guerra. Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo has reported that United have joined the race to sign the talented midfielder.

The report claims that Guerra is "close" to completing a move to United, although it has not been stated what price tag the La Liga outfit would demand for the 22-year-old's signature.

The Manchester Evening News says: United have been linked with signing a new midfielder this summer following Christian Eriksen's exit as a free agent. Guerra operates in several roles in the middle of the park and that versatility would be valuable to United and Amorim's system if a deal can be agreed with Valencia.
