The 26-year-old made 137 appearances for Lyon and will finally be parting ways with the French side.

Gudmundsson moved to the Ligue 1 outfit in 2021 from Groningen and has been a regular for them ever since.

Leeds United show intent by handing Gudmundsson four-year contract

Signing Gudmundsson on a four-year contract is a signal of intent from Leeds United.

The hierarchy appear to be showing the Swede that they believe in him to not just help them survive the initial relegation campaign, but actually become an important first-team player in the future.

With Firpo’s exit, it became imperative for the Whites to sign a new left-back.

By reaching an agreement for the 26-year-old, they have done exactly that and hopefully, there are no late snags in the deal.

They’re expected to schedule his medical imminently and by the end of the week, this transfer may even be made official.

Leeds will be hoping that there are no last-minute snags with this deal as clubs tend to enter the race late in the day in case the player is not entirely sure.
