Report: Mikel Arteta plans to unleash Noni Madueke not in his ‘best position’ as Chelsea star given Arsenal joining date

Even though Noni Madueke has been playing for Chelsea at the Club World Cup tournament, he is now heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Noni Madueke, 23, joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven two-and-a-half years ago.

The English winger has enjoyed some decent success with the Blues, scoring 20 goals in 91 appearances across all competitions. However, the transfer speculation is beginning to intensify around his future.

Chelsea are willing to part ways with Madueke this summer, despite him being a regular starter for Enzo Maresca’s team over the past year. In terms of interest, Arsenal are working hard to sign Madueke after already signing Kepa Arrizabalaga earlier in the window.

Noni Madueke could join Arsenal by the end of the week

According to ESPN, Arsenal are enjoying very positive talks with Chelsea over a deal to sign Madueke.

It is explained that there is already an agreement in place between the Gunners and the England international over a five-year deal.

The report claims that the London rivals remain in transfer discussions, which could be done by the end of the week. Apparently, the transfer deal itself could be worth around €50m (£43m).

ESPN further adds that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has always liked Madueke after eyeing him a year ago. Even though the Chelsea star’s ‘best position’ is on the right wing, Arteta thinks he can develop him into a great left-winger.

Mikel Arteta may need to change Noni Madueke’s mind

In recent months, Madueke has played some minutes in Chelsea colours on the left wing. But he always looks a lot more threatening and natural from the right when he cuts infield on his stronger left foot.

Reports have claimed that Madueke hasn’t enjoyed playing on the left for the Blues, which makes Arsenal’s plans very intriguing.

We can’t picture Madueke overtaking Bukayo Saka as the right-winger at the Emirates Stadium, so he may need to play out of position to get into the best Arsenal XI.
