Nottingham Forest finally announced that Edu Gaspar would be the club’s new Global Head of Football.
It’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in football that Edu would be uniting with Evangelos Marinakis.
Edu delivered his first words in his new Forest role on Monday as the players settled back into the first day of pre-season training.
Anthony Elanga looks set to join Newcastle, and now it’s going to be a very pivotal period for Edu as he gets his feet under the table at the City Ground.

Felipe and Fernando Morientes react as Edu joins Forest
Edu posted a message on Instagram after joining Forest, which read: “New challenge, big responsibility and excitement. I’m proud of it.”
Felipe was a firm fan favourite when he played for Forest, helping the club survive relegation from the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign.
He was the first to reply to Edu’s message and said: “Top! Excellent human being!”
Fernando Morientes won the Champions League three times with Real Madrid during his career as a player and he also sent his former Valencia teammate a message.

He said: “The best”, followed by two love heart emojis, with Edu clearly a respected figure in the world of football.
Edu is a coup for Nottingham Forest
This is once again another sign that Marinakis isn’t keen to mess about when it comes to Forest being an established Premier League team, which competes for European football.
Edu has a superb reputation in football and he will arrive at the City Ground with a wealth of experience in a similar role with Arsenal.
The new Global Head of Football now needs to get busy on signing new players, with the new Premier League campaign around six weeks away from starting.
This feels like a firm step in the right direction for Forest and the hope will be that he can help attract some top players on Trentside.
