Fresh from a new contract at Brighton, O'Mahony moves on loan to Reading - Brighton & Hove Albion

**Reading have made use of the loan market with the double swoop of Mark O’Mahony and Finley Burns from Brighton and Manchester City respectively.**

Cork native O’Mahony is a Republic of Ireland underage international who made his Premier League debut for The Seagulls in April 2024, netting his first senior goal in an EFL Cup tie in August 2024.

For the 2024/25 campaign he went on loan to a Portsmouth outfit in the Championship, for whom he netted three times in 13 games.

Reading First Team Manager Noel Hunt, speaking to his club media, praised his fellow Munsterman,

"Mark is a young hungry striker who wants to come in and develop at our club. He's young and he wants to learn his trade after having a successful loan deal last year at Portsmouth in the Championship.

He learnt plenty whilst playing at that level, which will stand him in good stead for the upcoming season. He's another player who has come through a really strong Academy, and will be a great addition to our squad."

Towering central defender Burns is another who spent time on loan in the Championship last season as he lined out eleven times for Hull City.

After debuting for the Manchester City first team in an EFL Cup win in September 2021, he has subsequently tasted first team action on loan at Swansea City and Stevenage.

These temporary moves were commended by Hunt, when speaking to his club media about the move,

"We're delighted to bring Finley to the club, he has all round quality and a couple of really good loans over the last couple of years.

His attitude is second to none and comes from a great calibre of an Academy at City and has grown in stature but getting appearances in the Championship last season. In the games he played he carried himself very well, and we're really positive."
