‘Good deal’: David Ornstein says ‘great’ player has just signed for Arsenal

Arsenal are really starting to motor in the summer transfer window now.

Indeed, the Gunners kept their powder dry throughout June, but now, just over a week into July, it would appear the north London club are getting down to business.

Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi have already signed for Arsenal, while Viktor Gyokeres is set to join too.

On top of that, Cristhian Mosquera is expected to sign at some point too.

Now, Arsenal appear to have completed their third signing of the summer, as according to David Ornstein, Christian Norgaard has now completed his move to the Emirates.

Christian Norgaard has signed for Arsenal

According to David Ornstein, Christian Norgaard has now completed his move to Arsenal.

The journalist says the midfielder has done a medical and agreed personal terms, and an announcement is set to come later this week.

Ornstein also notes that Norgaard will only cost Arsenal £12m, which is a decent deal for an experienced Premier League option.

Norgaard was wanted by Tottenham earlier this summer, but it’s Arsenal who appear to have got this deal done.

What Christian Norgaard will bring to Arsenal

Arsenal fans may well be sceptical about the idea of signing Norgaard. After all, he’s not got any top-level experience and he’s 31 years old.

However, according to former Premier League coach, Edu Rubio, speaking to the BBC, Norgaard could be great for Arsenal.

“Christian can break up play, intercept, tackle, block and win aerial duels. He can let Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice do their thing while he protects their backs,” Rubio said.

“He can also recycle the ball and play forwards effectively. In a league where there are so many transitions, a player who senses danger and has a great ability to regain the ball can be a must-have in your team. His physicality, and the fact it’s been tested at the Premier League also makes him a very sensible signing. He can be a great addition to Arsenal.”

Norgaard is unlikely to be a starting option for Arsenal, but he’ll provide some important depth and much-needed experience behind the likes of Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice and Mikel Merino.

This could end up being a very smart signing from Arsenal.
