Manchester United's pre-season preparations are up and running.
Members of Manchester United's first-team squad returned to Carrington on Monday for the start of pre-season training.
, with those who were on international duty at the end of last season expected to join them as soon as Thursday.
Among those present at Carrington on Monday were new signings and Diego Leon. They were introduced to their new teammates and given the opportunity to get used to their new surroundings.
The first day of pre-season, unsurprisingly, saw those who reported back to the club's training complex spend time in the gym. The first few days of pre-season often focus on fitness and conditioning testing, meaning the players are yet to have got down to work out on the grass.
With that in mind, here are five things MEN Sport picked out from the opening day of pre-season training preparations...
Onana all smiles
Goalkeeper Andre Onana could barely wipe the smile off his face as he got down to business at Carrington. Donning a huge grin, the Cameroonian was snapped working on his physical strength. (Image: Ash Donelon/Manchester United via Getty Images.) 1 of 5
2.
New recruit Diego Leon wasted no time in getting down to business, hopping on one of the exercise bikes. Unlike the rest of his teammates, his training wear did not feature a squad number, meaning that remains unconfirmed. (Image: Ash Donelon/Manchester United via Getty Images.) 2 of 5
3. ### Showing their strength
Physical testing is a key part at the start of any club's pre-season training regime, meaning it was no surprise to see United's players working on their strength. They were tasked with completing a set of pull-ups. Among those involved was Joshua Zirkzee, who experienced problems with a hamstring injury towards the end of last season. Despite being passed fit to feature in the Europa League final, he missed the Premier League finale against Aston Villa and then the post-season tour. 4. After offering signs of his capabilities last season, Harry Amass will be keen to maintain his upward trajectory in 2025/26. He was among the returnees at Carrington on Monday and was spotted working on his strength, being tasked with some weightlifting.

5. Amad is another player who will be hoping to kick on after a fruitful 2024/25 campaign. He was straight back into the thick of the action on Monday, being put through a series of tests.
