Sheffield United snap up prospect from Aston Villa

Sheffield United have brought in youngster Max Asante-Boakye from Aston Villa, as announced by their official club website.

Sheffield United have handed the prospect a professional contract. SUFC are preparing for another year in the Championship.

Asante-Boakye, 18, rose up through the academy ranks at Aston Villa. He made nine appearances for their U18s in Premier League 2 last season.

In this latest update, the Blades have confirmed that he has completed a switch to Bramall Lane. The South Yorkshire outfit have also tied up deals for Archie Christie-Crainie, Coby Hewitson, Frankie Jones, Jackson Blaize, Seth Okyere, Zach Giggs, Aaron Reid, Sam Colechin, Siem Eyob-Abraha and Theo Howard.

After joining last month, new Sheffield United boss Ruben Selles said: “When we first heard about the possibility of coming here, it was a no brainer for us to join a club with this kind of history and with a mission to move forward and try to be even more competitive.

“This is a very powerful and ambitious project. It was very important at the start of the conversations that everyone is on the same page. We need to embrace data and new technologies, but the most important thing is not to forget the football essence.”
