Report: £72.5m player is going to tell Liverpool that he wants to leave today

Liverpool have been dominant in the transfer market this summer, with Arne Slot managing to get a large chunk of his business done before the end of June.

And, although there are still a couple of areas within his ranks that could do with an upgrade, the players he’s already brought in are pretty impressive.

The likes of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong are the level of talent that has been brought in, but with the amount of money Liverpool have spent, some of that money will have to be earned back.

Darwin Nunez feels like one of the most likely players to leave Anfield this summer, but there’s another attacker who has also been at the centre of attention from teams across the globe.

Luis Diaz is set to tell Liverpool that he wants to leave the club today

Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future has had a massive question mark hanging over it since the start of the transfer window.

Both Barcelona and Bayern Munich have recently made moves for him, and now, it looks like he’s chosen to leave Liverpool.

That is, according to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, who share that Diaz will ‘begin negotiations’ with Liverpool ‘today’ to discuss him exiting Anfield this summer.

The report outlines that Liverpool know that a ‘soap opera’ is looming next summer if he doesn’t leave this time around.

Diaz now also considers his time in England ‘over,’ however, he will not begin negotiations to leave ‘aggressively.’

Luis Diaz makes new demand to Barcelona

The saga of Diaz’s future is likely to go on throughout the summer.

With there still being just under two months of the transfer window left, plenty can change in that time and after the Colombian’s performances last season, it’s clear to see why Deco wants him.

A new report from Spanish outlet AS has also emerged which outlines that if Diaz does move to Barcelona, his agent would demand a ‘compensation’ clause in the deal.

This would mean that if the La Liga giants can’t register the attacker, he’d be owed a ‘considerable amount’ of money.

As mentioned, this summer will be the last chance that Liverpool get to earn a decent fee for his services, with Liverpool likely to ‘come to the table’ for a bid in the region of £72.5million.

Although Slot may not want to lose Diaz, in the grand scheme of things, the best thing for the Reds to do is allow him to exit, especially since his mind already seems to be made up.
