Ex-Pro Bowl Steelers wide receiver rips team for Minkah Fitzpatrick trade: ‘They’re gonna miss…

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress is not thrilled with the team trading Minkah Fitzpatrick for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.

Buress has been confused by the Steelers moves this offseason, but especially trading Fitzpatrick. The former Pro Bowler believes the Steelers will miss their former three-time All-Pro safety. Meanwhile, Burress thinks Ramsey’s play is naturally on the decline.

“I don’t like the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade,” Burress said on Up On Game. “I really don’t. I think he fits what Pittsburgh wants to do. He’s only had one interception over the last two years, but he’s a run-first safety. And you knew that when you brought him here. So find some pieces around him, try to keep him in house. They’re gonna miss him.”

Fitzpatrick was a star free safety for the team, but the Steelers did not get splash plays out of him after they made him the highest-paid safety in the NFL after he became a superstar following the team’s trade for him in 2019.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says it is Fitzpatrick’s price tag and his lack of splash plays that made the Steelers move off him in the deal.

Fitzpatrick returns to the team that drafted him and will become the star safety for the Dolphins, who badly needed help in their secondary.
