Wolves are in the market for new players, but just one new face has arrived at Molineux so far – and it looks like another target could go begging.
Wolves landed Fer Lopez a couple of weeks ago, but fans hoping that the floodgates would open have been left disappointed.
The players are now back for pre-season, and they will spend the week at Compton Park before flying to the Algarve.
Ideally, Wolves would have brought in a few more new signings by now.
The hope is that the club’s newly restructured recruitment team will ultimately deliver, so that Vitor Pereira can take the team to the next level.
It’s thought a new goalkeeper could be on the agenda for Wolves, with Sam Johnstone expected to depart after a poor spell.
Wolves have been linked with Joeri Heerkens, but a fresh report has now suggested another club could land him.

Heerkens currently plays for Sparta Prague’s B team, and has recently impressed at the U19s European Championships.

He conceded only three goals at the tournament for the Netherlands, and kept three clean sheets on the way to winning the whole thing.
It was suggested that Wolves admired the youngster, and now that interest has been confirmed by his agency.
However, there is bad news for Wolves if they were thinking about making a swoop.
Because Ajax have presented a five-year contract offer to Heerkens.
Greg Gorré of Gorré Soccer Management said (via De Telegraaf): “Wolverhampton Wanderers and Como are also interested, but Joeri has set his sights on Ajax in the first place.
“That was a bit of a shock, because I’m a Feyenoorder. But no kidding. Ajax would be a dream come true for Joeri, so we’re going to do everything we can to make it happen. The clubs have not yet negotiated, but I think that agreement is for Friday.”
Wolves should sell Sam Johnstone and sign a young goalkeeper

In the second half of the 2024/25 season, Jose Sa did well and was fairly consistent.
There are other positions that need a lot more attention right now.
But Wolves certainly should be offloading Sam Johnstone, who did not impress in his first term after a £10 million switch from Crystal Palace.
Sunderland have been linked with a loan move for Johnstone, who cannot spend another term warming the bench given the finances it took to sign him.
Ideally, Wolves will move him on – and the signing of a young goalkeeper would not be such a bad move.
It looks like Heerkens won’t be an option, with Ajax clearly in pole position to get him.
But it’s the right profile of player Wolves should be going for, with Sa showing he’s still good enough to be Wolves’ number one.
A young goalkeeper could serve as an understudy to Sa and possibly challenge Dan Bentley to be the number two.
