Man United eye free agent trio as Hojlund pushed to exit door

On the move: Jamie Vardy, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Callum Wilson are all looking for new homes

United are looking to cash in on the £64million man to fund Ruben Amorim’s summer squad rebuild, with Inter Milan emerging as a likely destination, though the player is hoping to stay in the north-west and fight for his place.

The trio boast immense top-flight experience, with 290 goals in 820 Premier League appearances between them.

Reports in The Athletic claim that the players would likely serve as last resort options to be targeted late in the window should moves for first-choice prospects fall through.

Victor Osimhen of Napoli is thought to be high on their list, but the player seems more likely to join Saudi side Al Hilal or Galatasaray, where he spent last season on loan.

A move for Calvert-Lewin, whose Everton departure was confirmed last month, already appears to have been ruled out amid reports the club considered the 28-year-old’s wage demands unreasonable. He hopes to secure a raise on his £100,000-per-week Everton deal.

The injury-prone forward spent nine years with the Toffees and will be best remembered for scoring the goal which secured Everton’s top-flight survival in 2022.

Wilson’s departure from Newcastle was confirmed on Monday after the 33-year-old failed to agree an extension with the Magpies. He has also drawn interest from newly promoted Leeds as they bid to survive in the top flight.

Vardy would be the most maverick of the three options. The veteran striker cut his teeth in non-league, but at 38 years old, a move to Old Trafford seems unlikely.
