Everton are looking to strengthen their midfield ranks this summer transfer window.
Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure have left Everton, leaving David Moyes with work to do in the transfer market.
Harrison Armstrong could step up to Moyes’ first team next season after a really successful loan spell with Derby County.
Everton are exploring a deal to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus, which would be a major coup for the Friedkins.
It’s been reported that Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is an option, too, and here’s the latest on that potential Everton transfer.

What Aston Villa have told Everton after David Moyes enquires about John McGinn
According to The Athletic, Everton have made an enquiry to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn this summer.
McGinn has been a mainstay in Villa’s starting line-ups since the Championship and has been captain since the summer of 2022.
The Scotsman is a number eight by trade, but the vast majority of his appearances last term came off the left flank, interestingly.

The 30-year-old registered 10 goal involvements across all competitions, including three strikes in the Champions League.
49 appearances
4 goals
6 assists
So, with all that said, it’d be a really astute signing if Everton can agree a deal with Villa, however, the message as it stands is that he’s not for sale.
Indeed, every player has a price and the West Midlanders have been battling with PSR restrictions, so perhaps this one isn’t off the table, just yet.
What David Moyes has said about John McGinn
Speaking to The Sunday Post back in 2019, Moyes explained that Alan Stubbs had been telling him about just how good McGinn was.
“John McGinn is another central midfielder who can do great things this season. Alan Stubbs had him at Hibernian and raved to me about him many times. I can see why.
“He adapted very quickly to life in the English Championship and dominated many games.”
Evidently, the Everton boss has tracked his progress since and perhaps has been given some hope that a transfer can materialise this summer.
Certainly one to keep an eye on.
