Manchester United are still working tirelessly behind the scenes to reinforce Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
After a campaign that saw them miss out on European football and finish 15th in the Premier League, the pressure is on to deliver a much stronger showing next time around.
United managed to get Matheus Cunha over the line to bolster United’s attack, while rumours continue to make the rounds around the attacking reinforcements United are planning to get in.

However, progress has been slow in other areas, particularly up front, where United are exploring a wide range of options to ensure they don’t start the season short of firepower.
While several marquee names have been discussed, Manchester United are also considering fallback options should their top targets prove unattainable.
Now, The Athletic reports that the club have been offered the chance to sign two veteran free agents — Jamie Vardy and Callum Wilson — as a potential contingency plan.
Both strikers are without clubs following the end of their contracts, and although neither represent the kind of long-term profile INEOS are said to prefer, the idea of short-term depth is being discussed internally.
Sources suggest the club have no intention of making early moves for either Jamie Vardy or Callum Wilson, but could revisit the possibility toward the end of the transfer window if no other forward arrives.

Wilson left Newcastle United after his contract ended, while Vardy departed Leicester City following their relegation.
Despite their age, both strikers offer Premier League experience and proven goal scoring records, which could appeal to Amorim if United run out of options.
Jamie Vardy, 38, scored over 130 Premier League goals in his time at Leicester, while Callum Wilson, 33, netted consistently Newcastle when fit.
The duo are open to Premier League offers, and Manchester United’s name remains a significant draw — even if only as an emergency solution.
The hope at Carrington is still to land a younger, high-level striker, but United are preparing for every scenario in a market that has already proven difficult to navigate.
