Manchester United are set for yet another windfall payment as their long-term sales strategy is starting to pay off.

Under INEOS, The Red Devils have begun making it standard procedure to include sell-on clauses in their sales, with departures of younger stars also having buy-back clauses incase of impressive development.

One such example of this is Alvaro Carreras who went to Benfica for £6 million with a buy-back of £15 million and sell-on of around 20%.

Whilst this strategy did exist prior to Sir Jim Ratcliffe taking charge, it’s becoming much more common at Old Trafford over the last 12 months.

Already this summer, United are bracing themselves to cash in on Anthony Elanga’s move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United.

Whilst the extent of the sell-on clause is debated, with some reports saying 15% and some saying 20%, United are set to receive at least £6.75 million of the £55 million transfer fee, potentially ranging up to a £11 million windfall payment.

With United desperate for sales to generate funds for the club, these extra injections of cash are a welcome support for the club’s finances.

Now, United are set to receive another payment, this time from Legia Warsaw.

Manchester Evening News has reported that The Red Devils are going to be cashing in as former United academy graduate Maxi Oyedele gains interest from across Europe.

Oyedele moved to Poland last summer on a three year contract for an unknown small fee, however included a 40% sell-on clause for United to benefit from any future development.

Now with 24 appearances in the defensive midfield role, grabbing an assists against Molde in the UEFA Conference League, Maxi Oyedele could be on the move yet again.

Throughout the year, Oyedele has been vital to the Polish side, even helping them lift the Fortuna Polish Cup.

It’s understood that the 20-year-old has a release clause of £5 million (€6 million), so United will bank around £2 million when it’s triggered.

Whilst it’s unknown at this time who the front-runners are for his signature, United will be happy to see their former academy star thriving and getting further attention.
