23. The 13-Second Drive (2022)
Bring up the ongoing AFC rivalry between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs, and someone’s mind is bound to race right to the divisional playoffs shootout that headlined the 2021 season. Four lead changes in the final two minutes was wacky enough. Then Patrick Mahomes needed just two plays and 13 seconds after Josh Allen’s would-be game-winning touchdown pass to hand Buffalo its latest heartbreak.
Patrick Mahomes: I’ve talked to Tom Brady a good amount this offseason | NBC Sports
“And having Tom, a guy like that say that, just motivates me even more. I’ve actually talked to Tom a good amount this offseason. It’s cool that he wants to give me advice. He doesn’t have to be like that. He’s such a good dude. And I have so much respect for him, and I’ll take any advice he gives me.”
What is that advice?
“I’ve got to keep the secrets, you know?” Mahomes said, tongue in cheek. “But he always talks about being yourself. He thinks that — which I truly believe, too — is that guys can spot when you’re not authentic, and you’re not putting in the work. That’s something that he did every single day. That’s why guys respected him so much. And that’s all I’m going to do for the rest of my career, and I feel like I’ve done so far, is I’m always myself — no matter if you like me or don’t like me, you know I’m giving everything I can to win football games.”
Here are the 15 NFL teams that will be getting a new helmet or uniform for 2025, with expected release date | CBS Sports
So what is the “Rivalries” program? It likes the NFL’s Color Rush campaign from a few years ago, but with a twist. Over the next four seasons, one NFC division and one AFC division per year will get to debut a new “Rivalries” uniform. The four teams in the AFC East (Bills, Dolphins, Patriots, Jets) and the four teams in the NFC West (Rams, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals) will be the first teams to partake in the program, so they’ll all be getting a new “Rivalries” uniform for 2025. However, there’s no release date yet for these uniforms yet, so right now, it’s unclear if they’ll be coming out in July or at some point in August.
Here’s when each division will be getting their new “Rivalries” uniform:
2025: AFC East and NFC West
2026: AFC South and NFC North
2027: AFC West and NFC East
2028: AFC North and NFC South
2025 NFL offensive line rankings: Eagles, Broncos open the season at the top | PFF
20.Kansas City Chiefs
While the Chiefs will hope they solved their issues at left tackle via offseason moves, they may regret trading guard Joe Thuney. Free-agent acquisition Jaylon Moore and rookie first-round pick Josh Simmons are the candidates to protect Patrick Mahomes’ left side after Kansas City’s disastrous left tackle situation last season.
The interior duo of center Creed Humphrey and right guard Trey Smith prevents this unit from ranking lower, but unless Moore or Simmons can step up immediately, we might see the worst Chiefs offensive line of recent years in 2025.
2025 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings: Is Patrick Mahomes still the NFL’s top QB? | Arrowhead Addict
Quarterback Tier 1: The NFL’s Best
1. Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs
When I did my offseason quarterback power rankings a year ago, I had Mahomes in his own tier. While I still think he’s the clear number one, another season of lower statistics (by his standards) has closed the gap a little.
2. Josh Allen - Buffalo Bills
Flip a coin between Allen and Jackson for the 2/3 spots. They are both physical freaks who have been absolute stars in the regular season but haven’t been able to get past Patrick Mahomes and win the big one yet.
3. Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens
See the comments for Allen above.
Kansas extends deadline for Chiefs, Royals to take stadium funding | ESPN
A Kansas legislative committee has extended a deadline for the Chiefs and Royals to take advantage of a stadium financing plan from the state.
The Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council on Monday unanimously approved the extension to use bonds to cover 70% of a new stadium’s cost if the teams decide to relocate to the state. The new deadline is June 30, 2026, although the committee indicated it is seeking an answer from the teams by Dec. 31 of this year.
Chiefs president Mark Donovan requested the extension late last month in a letter to Kansas Senate president Ty Masterson. The Royals verbally requested an extension around the same time. The deadline expired on June 30 but was retroactively extended Monday.
“Together, we have the opportunity to bring the National Football League to Kansas, anchored by a world-class domed stadium, new team headquarters, a state-of-the-art practice facility, and a vibrant mixed-use and entertainment district,” Donovan wrote in his letter to Masterson.

Former Texans, Eagles LB Bryan Braman has rare form of cancer | ESPN
Former Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman is undergoing treatment for a rare, aggressive form of cancer, with his longtime agent describing the situation as extremely serious.
Braman, 38, has had multiple surgeries while being treated in Seattle, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help him with expenses. Braman was diagnosed with cancer in February.
“At Stellato Sports, Bryan Braham has always stood for strength, resilience and leadership,” Braham’s agent, Sean Stellato, told KPRC 2 in Houston. “He is a pillar and a staple of the underdog.
“Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there is one person that I know that can beat cancer, it is Bryan Braman, who I have always considered family. He’s in the fight of his life.”

Chiefs News: Patrick Mahomes wants team to have fun again in 2025
Blocking out the noise
The world is full of haters, and after a Super Bowl loss, they come crawling out of the woodwork. When asked about the outside talk this offseason and his mindset heading into the year, Mahomes made it clear: he hears the noise but is not interested in the back-and-forth.
“I’m honestly just ready to play football again,” Mahomes said. “I’ve had to just sit back and listen to people talk and talk, and I’m like — let’s just play football and handle it all out there. I don’t really want to talk about it. I just want to go out there and show who we are as the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Reclaiming joy
Kansas City’s expectations are sky-high, and sometimes that pressure can dull the joy of the game. At the end of the day, Mahomes said the team needs to get back to having fun again.
“I don’t want to say it was pressure, but last year, guys wanted to go out there and win every single week — not because it was fun, but because we were supposed to. Let’s go out there and have fun. The wins will come if we play the way we know we can play.”
