Newcastle United can't seem to shake off this link to former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Rumours around Eddie Howe wanting to sign the 11-times capped England international have been around since the Newcastle gaffer took over the hot seat at St James' Park.
So far, nothing has ever come of those rumours, but now that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made the decision to leave Everton, the Magpies are forever being reported as being in talks with his representatives over a move.
Newcastle have just said their goodbyes to one injury-prone striker, and many fans believe it would be madness to rely on another similar player to support Alexander Isak with Calvert-Lewin's injury record no better than Callum Wilson's.

Newcastle have rejected the opportunity to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Thankfully, amid all the reports of talks between Newcastle and DCL, The Chronicle has always maintained that the Magpies were indeed approached by Calvert-Lewin's people, but provided them with a polite 'no thank you'.
That report has since been reiterated a couple of times by The Chronicle, who say that the noise around Newcastle and DCL is being driven by his agents, who are trying to secure him a bumper move. They even believe that's the case with the Manchester United links, too.
There are many reasons why we don't see a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin being a good idea, but the fact that he's reportedly seeking over £100,000-a-week wages is definitely high on the list.

We are nervous that Newcastle will turn to DCL late in the window
We touched on his goal-scoring record over the last two seasons yesterday, and we'd love to know what about that he believes qualifies him for £100k-a-week.
The sooner he finds a new club, the better, so we can stop looking over our shoulders and wondering if it's going to be us.
The longer the window goes on without Newcastle bringing in a striker, the more nervous we get that we'll turn to Calvert-Lewin.
