Wolves partaking in another transfer battle with Nuno Espirito Santo as ‘concrete offer’ made - …

Wolves are pushing hard to sign one of France’s most exciting upcoming talents, but the Old Gold aren’t alone in their pursuit.

Fans are desperate to see Vitor Pereira’s squad strengthened following the opening arrival of Fer Lopez.

Three weeks have passed since Lopez signed for Wolves, and from that point, it’s gone rather quiet on the transfer front in the West Midlands.

While other Premier League clubs bolster their squads with new signings, Wolves are waiting to have their wishes granted.

That being said, it appears that hard work is being done behind the scenes, as one of Ligue 1’s biggest talents has received an offer from Wolves.

Wolves battling Nottingham Forest for Maghnes Akliouche transfer

According to journalist Abdel Hamed, Wolves are one of two clubs to have presented a ‘concrete offer’ to Monaco in a bid to sign Maghnes Akliouche.

The likes of Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham have shown an interest in the 23-year-old, but only Wolves and Nottingham Forest have made contact.

#Wolves and Nottingham Forest are said to have made ‘concrete offers’ recently for AS Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche. 🇫🇷

Arsenal & Tottenham are also said to have an interest but it’s thought Monaco will want a ‘high fee’ for the 23yo.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

“Despite the various interests recently mentioned, such as Arsenal, Leverkusen, or Tottenham, only Nottingham and Wolverhampton have made concrete offers for Maghnes Akliouche,” Hamed said.

Duelling with Forest for signings is not something new to Wolves, who have shown interest in Nuno Espirito Santo’s target, Yunus Musah.

Nuno is hoping to bolster his squad at the City Ground by signing Akliouche, which has presented Wolves with steep competition for the dazzling forward.

The Frenchman made 32 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, where, from the right wing, he contributed to an impressive 15 goals.

Given the competition to sign the aspiring France international, it’s difficult to imagine how Wolves can get themselves ahead in terms of negotiations, particularly when operating on a budget.

Who is Maghnes Akliouche comparable to?

On paper, the deal looks difficult to complete, but stranger things have happened in football.

Following the departure of Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia, Pereira is short of threat in the final third.

In Akliouche, Wolves could get themselves a winger who is listed by FBref as being a player statistically comparable to some world beaters.

Based on strengths and weaknesses shown over the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season, Akliouche is comparable to PSG quartet Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele, as well as Manchester City’s new signing, Rayan Cherki.

There’s little explanation needed for a player whose numbers liken him to some of the world’s best, but can Wolves shock everyone and get a deal over the line?
