Transfer business in the Premier League is starting to ramp up now that we are in July. Arsenal have been active in the transfer market having already completed deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.
The signing of the midfielder from Real Sociedad is very much a sign of Arsenal's intent this season after splashing out a fee of more than £51million for the 26-year-old. The Gunners are set to splurge even more cash on Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard and Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP.
That doesn't appear to be the end of their spending either as Cristhian Mosquera could add to their options at centre-back if a deal can be agreed with Valencia. Noni Madueke may be an addition from Chelsea and players such as Eberechi Eze and Rodrygo have also been linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.
In terms of Madueke, the player has agreed personal terms with Arsenal ahead of a possible move across the capital. It is now down to Arsenal and Chelsea to strike an agreement for the 23-year-old.
Madueke would give the Gunners a further attacking boost due to his ability to play from either the right or left wing. That is certainly a massive plus point for Mikel Arteta as Arsenal need to ensure they have adequate cover across the pitch as they challenge on four fronts from August onwards.
Madueke's 2024/25 campaign is still ongoing due to Chelsea's participation in the FIFA Club World Cup and it has been a decent year for the player. In 45 appearances in all competitions, the ex-PSV man contributed 16 goal involvements (11 goals, five assists) and those numbers could still grow with a Club World Cup semi-final against Fluminense on Tuesday evening and then potentially a final showdown on Sunday.
Only Cole Palmer (16), Christopher Nkunku (15) and Nicolas Jackson (13) have scored more goals than him in a Chelsea shirt in 2024/25. Arsenal will be looking to get the best deal possible for Madueke but Chelsea will be hoping to secure in excess of £50million for their player.
What perhaps helps the Blues' case is a couple of other Premier League transfer deals that could take place imminently. The first of those involves Anthony Elanga of Nottingham Forest.
The Swede is now on the verge of a £55million move to Newcastle United following a standout season at the City Ground as he helped Forest clinch an unlikely place in Europe. Elanga did contribute with two more goal contributions than Madueke across his 43 games, registering six goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
All but one of those numbers came in the Premier League as he contributed six goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League games and one assist in the FA Cup. The second transfer deal that could be given the green light very soon is Mohammed Kudus swapping West Ham for Tottenham.
Spurs have already seen a £50million bid rejected and will have to submit another offer if the versatile attacker is to become the first player to move from West Ham to Tottenham since Scott Parker in 2011. It comes as no surprise why West Ham want well over £50million for their player given they signed him for £38.5million from Ajax two years ago.
Kudus was an instant hit in east London as he finished his first season as a Hammer with 14 goals and nine assists. The 24-year-old was unable to repeat the feat last term as he only managed five goals and four assists in a struggling West Ham team.
Still, despite the big drop off in goal contributions, Kudus may still be in line for a move in excess of £50million at some point over the coming weeks. Those two transfers certainly give Chelsea a guide when it comes to how much they can get for Madueke if a transfer to Arsenal is to come to fruition.
