Liverpool makes decision on new Napoli bid for Darwin Nunez

Liverpool have turned down a fresh bid from Napoli for striker Darwin Nunez, putting a pause on the Italian club’s summer pursuit, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The offer, worth €50 million plus add-ons, came as Napoli continues to push for a top-class striker ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Nunez has emerged as their top target, with Antonio Conte keen to rebuild his attack and add pace and power up front.

Despite interest from the Serie A champions, Liverpool remains firm on their stance. They believe Nunez still has a role to play at Anfield and are not ready to sell — at least not at the current price.

And while the Uruguayan forward has been linked with an exit after a mixed second season in England, the Reds have made it clear: they’re not ready to cash in just yet.

Conte is said to admire Nunez’s physicality and direct style. But unless Napoli comes back with a much-improved offer, this transfer could stall quicker than a misfired goal kick.

Why Liverpool rejected Darwin Nunez bid?

The main reason behind Liverpool’s rejection is value. The club paid a hefty sum to sign Nunez from Benfica in 2022, and don’t feel Napoli’s bid reflects the striker’s potential.

A move could still happen, especially with Nunez open to a new challenge. He’s reportedly attracted by the idea of playing under Conte and becoming a key part of Napoli’s title plans.

But Liverpool, now under Arne Slot, are not under pressure to sell. There could be another added reason, with Diogo Jota no longer around, the club could think of reconsidering not selling Nunez.

With pre-season kicking off and plenty of time left in the transfer window, this saga is far from over. Napoli are expected to return with another offer in the coming weeks.

And as football fans know — when Italian clubs get serious, they don’t take no for an answer. Expect more twists ahead in this summer striker chase.
