Jose Mourinho plotting ‘reunion’ with one Man Utd star for his Fenerbahce project, transfer ‘strategy’ is now in place

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has now been tipped to land one Manchester United player in the summer window, according to stunning reports in Turkey.

The 62-year-old former Manchester United manager has been with current team Fenerbahce since 2024 after bouncing back from his setback at Serie A side Roma.

Jose Mourinho was sacked by Roma in January 2024 and the ‘Special One’ waited patiently on the sidelines before taking up the Fenerbahce post in June 2024.

The 2024-25 Super Lig season was Mourinho’s first full campaign in charge of the Istanbul-based club and the Turkish side fell short in the race for the league title.

Mourinho’s men finished second in the Super Lig title race behind Galatasaray, with Fenerbahce’s arch-rivals finishing 11 points clear at the top of the table.

However, the ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid boss did ensure that Fenerbahce would make the third qualifying round of the Champions League for the 2025-26 campaign.

Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce’s transfer plans for signing Man Utd outcast Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window

Fanatik (via Barca Universal) now reports that Fenerbahce are keen to reinforce their wingers in Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of the forthcoming Super Lig season.

Fenerbahce were linked with Jadon Sancho this summer, but the 25-year-old Manchester United winger appears to be inching closer to a move to Juventus.

Jadon Sancho’s permanent transfer to Chelsea collapsed after the Blues opted to pay a £5m penalty fee and offloaded the player back to the Red Devils this summer.

It has now been claimed that Fenerbahce have ‘moved on’ from Sancho and have ‘shifted their attention’ to signing United player Marcus Rashford this summer.

Marcus Rashford was loaned out to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024-25 Premier League season after he lost his place in the United XI under Ruben Amorim.

How Jose Mourinho could be the key for Fenerbahce to sign former Aston Villa forward Marcus Rashford from Man Utd

According to Fanatik, Mourinho is hopeful to use his relationship with Marcus Rashford to try and sway the United player into signing for Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Rashford played under former United manager Mourinho at Old Trafford and the 27-year-old former Aston Villa star is tipped to leave the Red Devils this summer.

The Turkish newspaper added that Mourinho would speak directly with the England international if Fenerbahce open up talks with United over a move for Rashford.

Rashford’s loan spell with Villa ended on 30th June and the Premier League club opted not to make his move to Villa Park permanent for a £40m transfer fee.

The ex-Villa attacker is under contract with United until 2028 and Rashford has been heavily linked with Barcelona in recent weeks amid uncertainty around his future.
