Gueye Signs New Deal: “More Driven Than Ever”

Idrissa Gana Gueye says he feels “more driven than ever to keep pushing” after putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal with Everton, keeping him at the club until the end of June 2026. The contract also includes the option for a further year.

The 35-year-old midfielder, who has racked up 211 appearances for the Toffees across two spells, was a standout performer last season—earning both the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

“Everyone knows what Everton means to me and my family,” said Gueye. “After six seasons, this club is more than just where I play football—it’s a part of who I am. I’m proud to be starting my seventh year as a Blue.

“Last season was strong for me personally. I feel fresh, focused, and more motivated than ever. With our incredible new stadium and a real sense of momentum around the club, this season feels like a turning point—an opportunity to build something meaningful and lasting.”

The contract extension ends speculation over Gueye’s future and ensures the Senegalese international—his country’s all-time record appearance holder—will provide continuity and leadership as Everton prepare for their historic first season at their new home.

Everton manager David Moyes praised Gueye’s influence, both on and off the pitch.

“His experience and understanding of the club will be vital as we enter this exciting new chapter,” Moyes said. “With new players arriving and the move to our new stadium, Idrissa will play a big part in helping integrate the group and drive standards forward.”
