'Deal on' - Fabrizio Romano says 'unbelievable' star is 'prioritising' move to Man United

Manchester United continue to work on a deal to sign Bryan Mbeumo and are set to hold further talks with Brentford this week, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Red Devils have reportedly placed their ‘absolute focus’ on pursuing the Cameroonian international, who is believed to have already agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford.

United have had two bids rejected by Brentford already this summer, with the second worth £62.5m, similar to what they paid for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha last month.

Mbeumo is said to be prioritising a move to Man United at the moment, despite also receiving interest from Tottenham, who appointed former Brentford head coach Thomas Frank last month.

According to Romano, Man United are set to continue talks this week over Mbeumo’s signing from Brentford, as he remains their ‘absolute’ priority target.

Mbeumo is coming off a career-best Premier League season, registering 20 goals and eight assists in 38 top-flight appearances for Brentford last term.

The Cameroonian forward is expected to depart with a year left on his contract, although Brentford do hold an option to trigger a 12-month extension and prolong his stay.

Man United are also anticipated to recruit a new striker this summer but may concede defeat in their efforts to reunite manager Ruben Amorim with Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sweden international is believed to have reached an agreement over personal terms to join Arsenal and is prioritising a move to the Emirates despite long-standing interest from the Red Devils.
