Lincoln City have taken former academy player Connor Brown on trial following his recent release from Nottingham Forest, as per The Stacey West.
Lincoln City began their pre-season against local side Lincoln United. A side mostly comprised of academy players featuring three unamed trialists, one of which onlookers believed to be former academy prospect Connor Brown.
Now, The Stacey West has confirmed he was indeed among the Imps squad for the game.

The 19-year-old featured in City’s squad following his release from Nottingham Forest. Brown was a standout member of the Imps academy before departing in 2021 for the City Ground.
However, his game time – like many prospects trying to make the step up – was limited, only managing marginal minutes with the U21s despite impressing with 19 goals and nine assists in 40 U18s Premier League games.
Therefore, Lincoln City have given him another chance to prove his ability in their ranks.
It would appear that this is a low-risk move for the Imps as an out-of-contract academy player could be seen as someone with a high ceiling they can cash in on in years to come. If a contract is to come the way of Brown, it could be seen as very clever business if he can maximise his potential.
Lincoln City spoilt for choice?
It may come as a surprise that Lincoln City will potentially recruit another striker, as the Imps have a lot of options when it comes to who will take the number nine shirt each week.

James Collins was deployed up top by Skubala following his winter transfer from Derby County, scoring 10 goals in the second half of the campaign. However, at the age of 34, City may want to further future-proof the position.

However, with players such as Freddie Draper and Robert Street returning from his successful loan with Doncaster Rovers in League Two, most fans will see this as already sufficient cover. Jovon Makama, Ben House and young Zane Okoro are also on the books.
What’s best for Brown?
Lincoln City is where Brown had his most prolific parts of his career so far.

At one point during his academy days, it is noted he was nearly managing a goal every two games. Brown clearly enjoyed his time with the Imps and after his time at Nottingham Forest, a return to what he enjoyed could be just what he needs to kick start his professional career.
