Bryan Mbeumo 'frustrated' by Man Utd transfer plan after Arsenal and Newcastle moves

Bryan Mbeumo is reportedly growing frustrated with the speed of negotiations between Brentford and Manchester United. The clubs have been locked in talks over the past few weeks, but an agreement does not appear to be any closer at this stage.

Ruben Amorim is keen to shake up his attacking ranks, with Matheus Cunha signed from Wolves, Mbeumo eyed and a new No. 9 on his shopping list. In turn, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho will depart.

United have been pushing to strike a deal for Mbeumo in recent weeks and managed to fend off rivals Newcastle and Tottenham to put themselves in pole position to secure his signature. However, it has been to no avail yet.

The Red Devils have seen two bids knocked back for the Cameroon international, and they are now weighing up a third offer. According to The Evening Standard, the speed of negotiations is leading to Mbeumo becoming ‘increasingly frustrated’.

Similarly, Brentford are growing impatient with the saga and are holding firm on their valuation of over £63million for the 25-year-old.

They have been ‘encouraged’ by how Nottingham Forest held out for £55m to sell Antony Elanga to Newcastle and Chelsea’s valuation of over £50m for Noni Madueke. As a result, Brentford feel that there is a world in which Mbeumo remains among their ranks, especially as they are under no pressure to lower their valuation of the versatile forward.

It remains to be seen how United respond to Mbeumo’s frustrations, especially given the volume of suitors who have shown an interest in signing him previously. At this stage, the ex-Troyes star is still prioritising a move to Old Trafford, but further elongated negotiations could have an impact on that stance.

Amorim will be hoping that United can strike a deal with Brentford sooner rather than later, especially as some of his side’s other transfer business may hinge on the figures involved in the agreement. The ex-Sporting boss is keen to bring in a new striker to lead the line next season, with another goalkeeper to provide competition for Andre Onana not being ruled out. Defensive acquisitions and a new midfielder being signed are also possible towards the end of the summer transfer window.
