William Osula sends wordless reaction to Fabrizio Romano after Newcastle agree £55m Anthony…

Newcastle United attacker William Osula has publicly given his reaction to the news that Anthony Elanga has agreed to join from Nottingham Forest.

After almost two years, the Magpies are finally getting the major signing they were hoping for.

Late on Monday night, it was revealed that Newcastle United had come to an agreement for Anthony Elanga, with a fee believed to be in the region of £55m. The deal makes Elanga the joint second most expensive player in the club’s history, equal with Sandro Tonali and just behind fellow Swede Alexander Isak.

Geordie Boot Boys were told that Elanga changing agents held up the deal with Newcastle, so it could have been completed much earlier if not for that. Despite that, Eddie Howe is finally getting a player he has a lot of admiration for, albeit a few days later than he would have hoped.

Elanga and Howe have already set a pathway for improvement, with both parties recognising what can be done to get the most out of him. Elanga is very good friends with William Osula, and upon seeing the news, he put a brilliant comment on social media.

Osula looks like he was a driving force for the Elanga deal. The pair met up during the off-season, where the conversation about joining the Magpies surely came up.

Elanga frequently comments on Osula’s social media pages, and vice versa. They will now be teammates and have the chance to be successful together on Tyneside.

Newcastle signing Elanga gives Howe the quality winger he has been keen on signing for years, but it also gives Elanga a club where he already has friends. There will be no need for him to build new relationships.

The news was broken by Fabrizio Romano on Monday night, confirming that Elanga had agreed to personal terms with Newcastle and that the bid had also been accepted. On Instagram, Osula sent two emojis showing someone blowing out air, as if to say how good a signing he is for the club.

Romano himself responded to the message with an eye emoji.

After signing for £10m in 2024, Osula is yet to start a Premier League game for the Magpies. The Dane was limited to substitute appearances where he impressed, but many are calling for him to play much more often.

It was suggested that Osula is Newcastle’s second-choice striker after Callum Wilson left, but it has been reported that the Magpies are still looking for another striker this summer.

During his impressive Under-21 European Championship run, Osula said he is ready to play more first-team football, citing that he and his father know what he is capable of. Newcastle fans have seen glimpses of promise from the attacker, with bright performances in the FA Cup and a goal in the Premier League towards the end of the season.

With Champions League on the horizon, Howe could look to bring Osula in on a more regular basis to give others the chance to rest.
