Callum Wilson offered shock Premier League move after Newcastle United exit

Callum Wilson officially announced his Newcastle United exit yesterday after five years at St James’ Park.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign former Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

The worst-kept secret on Tyneside was confirmed yesterday when the 33-year-old officially announced his St James’ Park exit. Wilson had been out of contract since July 1 but mulled over a fresh deal.

It is understood the contract offer was on reduced, incentivised terms given Wilson’s lesser role at Newcastle in recent times. The England international snubbed a new proposal and is now available to rivals on a free transfer.

Callum Wilson to Manchester United?

The Athletic claim Man United have been given the chance to sign the out-of-contract star. Ruben Amorim is keen on adding an experienced striker to his ranks to support the misfiring Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Free agents Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jamie Vardy are also named as potential targets. It is noted how the Red Devils would only make a concrete approach as a last resort if they do not get any of their top targets.

Callum Wilson bids Newcastle United farewell

"To all you Magpies, it's time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years at the Toon. Thank you for everything. We stood strong together through the highs and some lows to help the club experience new heights."

"I am so proud to have worn the iconic number 9 shirt and to have added a little more history to it. Scoring at the Gallowgate end really is as special as they say. All good things come to an end, but there's no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my family's hearts."
