“World-class” Liverpool player has issued fresh hint over Anfield future amid “negotiations”

One Liverpool player hasn’t exactly committed his future to the club this summer, following a new update regarding the next step in his career.

This is one of the busiest summers in recent memory at Anfield, although business has stopped for the time being, following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota last week.

There could be plenty of summer departures at Liverpool, with Caoimhin Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold among those who have already moved on.

In attack, both Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have been continually linked with summer moves away from the club, and now the former has told Marca [via This Is Anfield] that “negotiations” are continuing over a potential exit:

“We’re there, negotiating. We’ll see what can happen, for us and for the club. We’ll try to do our best and make the best decision.

“We’re in the process of negotiations, talking with the club, with Liverpool, with everyone who’s approaching us. But I’m very calm where I am, you know, very happy. Trying to make the best decision, now.”

Losing Diaz a big blow for Liverpool

Diaz may not be a Liverpool attacking great like Mohamed Salah, Luis Suarez or Sadio Mane, but losing him this summer would still be a negative.

He has now proven himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world over a sustained period, and his performances last season suggest he could be about to hit his peak years at the age of 28.

The lure of Barcelona is obvious for Diaz, considering how many South American players dream of playing for the La Liga giants, but the hope is that he realises he couldn’t be playing for a better team currently.

He has been a fantastic option for both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, being hailed as “world-class” by journalist Neil Docking, and losing him would see a big chunk of quality taken out of Liverpool’s attack.

Should a massive offer arrive for Diaz, the Reds may at least consider accepting it and signing a younger attacking alternative, but for now, he should be seen as a vital part of the club’s plans moving forward.
