Man Utd set to launch transfer bid 'within days' as Ineos try to seal bargain

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a cut-price deal for one of the rising stars of Argentinian football. It’s been a frustrating summer window so far for the Premier League club, having had two bids for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo rejected and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokores turning down a potential move.

Ruben Amorim is desperate to overhaul his squad following a dismal 2024/25 campaign. Having finished 15th in the league and losing in the Europa League final, they have no European football to entice stars this summer. However, United have now seemingly been handed the chance to sign a long-term prospect.

Milton Delgado, 20, has been dropped from the Boca Juniors starting line-up following the arrival of new manager Miguel Angel Russo. The Argentina Under-20 international was a prominent performer under the previous boss, Fernando Gaga, and the decision has angered fans.

The situation came to a head at the ongoing Club World Cup in America. Delgado didn’t play a minute of the tournament, as Boca went out in the group stages with just two points from their three games.

According to Multimedio 26, United are set to capitalise on the situation. They are said to be preparing an offer in the next few days, with the La Ribera wanting around £9.5million for their prize asset.

The defensive midfielder has also been linked with a loan move to South American sides Independiente and Godoy Cruz. However, United appear to be in the driving seat given that their preference is a permanent deal.

If the player does head to Manchester, speculation about another current first-team player is likely to ramp up. Kobbie Mainoo fell out of favour under Amorim last season, amid rumours of a move to Chelsea.

A youth product of CA Los Angeles, Delgado joined Boca at the age of 10. In February last year, he signed his first professional contract with the club and made his senior debut the following month.
