Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future has been up in the air since the 2025-26 summer transfer window opened at the start of July.
The Colombia international was one of the Reds’ best-performing attackers last season, with the winger forming a dynamic trio with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.
However, seeing as though he only has two years left on his current Liverpool deal, if Arne Slot doesn’t want to extend his stay, the best time to sell him would be now.

Links have been consistently shared over the last month or so, with Liverpool rejecting everything that has come their way, but if they don’t want to offer him an extension, it feels silly for them to keep him.
That is, especially since this summer will be the last time they can get a decent fee for him.
Fabrizio Romano believes Barcelona will make another bid for Luis Diaz in the ‘upcoming days’
Barcelona are the team who have had the strongest links with Diaz, as the La Liga giants are looking to sign a new left-winger this summer.
The Colombia international was always their number one target, but when Liverpool rebuffed their first offer, their attention turned elsewhere.
However, now Barcelona’s deal for Nico Williams has fallen through, Fabrizio Romano believes the attention of the Spanish club has once again been turned towards Diaz.

“Barcelona feel that the player [Diaz] is keen on a move, that the player is keen on joining Barcelona after the Nico saga,” he said.
“Barcelona now return to Luis Diaz. What’s important to say is that Barcelona want to make a new approach to Liverpool in the upcoming days try to see if they can open doors.
“Barca will do their best to get Luis Diaz. If it’s not going to be possible, Barcelona are aware of Marcus Rashford being an option on the list.
“He is very keen on the move, dreaming of Barca move, and they are aware of that… but Barca still wants to try again for Luis Diaz.”
Liverpool must source a replacement for Luis Diaz before sanctioning his exit
Although Liverpool’s stance has always been that they’d like to keep Diaz among their ranks this season, it feels inevitable that he’s going to exit Anfield.
Both Barcelona and Bayern Munich have him as their number one target, and unless Liverpool are going to offer him a new deal, it feels harsh for the Reds to keep him around until the end of his contract.
With this in mind, it feels like Liverpool must ensure that they have a replacement lined up for Diaz if he does end up leaving.

Indeed, Federico Chiesa now looks likely to stay at Anfield, but unless Slot signs a striker or another left-winger, they’ll still be light up front.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
