Everton told they can sign player ‘as good as Jude Bellingham’ for less than Thierno Barry

Everton are in desperate need of some added attacking quality this summer.

David Moyes worked wonders with the squad he inherited back in January, but he will now be looking for major improvements in the transfer market.

Everton are close to signing Thierno Barry as their new number nine following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin last month.

With an exciting, young striker set to ink his deal on Merseyside, Moyes will now be looking for some creative quality to add around him.

Following a turbulent 2024/25 campaign, Everton are focusing on attacking signings this summer.

The loan market is going to have to be utilised by Angus Kinnear, but there is one creative player on Everton’s radar who could now be bought for less than Barry.

The winger is believed to be keen to join a Premier League side this summer, with Sociedad already receiving enquiries.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg has suggested it would take an offer in the region of €30m-€40m (£25.9m-£34.5m) to secure a sale.

Moyes has been keen to sign a new winger for a number of months now on Merseyside.

And Kubo is a player who could add some real star quality out on the right side, which proved a major area for improvement last season.

Takefusa Kubo hailed as good as Jude Bellingham

Everton have been linked with a move for Jack Grealish this summer, with his Manchester City future up in the air.

However, they could add a really exciting player in Kubo on a permanent basis, given the fee in question.

Kubo is a player with a lot of high praise having been thrown his way over recent years, with Terry Gibson even suggesting he is as good as Jude Bellingham.

“As good as Jude Bellingham has been this year, I think Take Kubo has been on (his) level in every game he’s played,” he said on El Tel & Jon’s La Liga Weekly.
