'I want to tell you...' - Fabrizio Romano says Man Utd star would actually 'love' to stay…

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is not pushing to leave the club this summer, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Denmark international was recently linked with a return to Serie A but currently has no plans to depart and end his two-year stint at Old Trafford.

Hojlund would instead ‘love’ to stay and fight for his place next season under Ruben Amorim, who is believed to be on the lookout for a new number nine this summer.

The 22-year-old striker, who joined United from Atalanta for £72m, has three years remaining on his contract, running until the summer of 2028.

According to Romano, the only scenario in which Hojlund would leave is if Man United decide to sell him amid their ongoing search for a new striker:

“I want to tell you something, as I'm receiving many questions on reports we had last week on Hojlund pushing to leave Man United.

“Hojlund is not pushing to leave Man United. Hojlund would love to stay at Man United, would love to continue at Man United, and would love to do his best for Man United again in a new season.

“The only possibility for Hojlund to go is if Manchester United decide to let him go, to sell him, to make a profit with him and all these kinds of things.

“If Man United decide for him to go, Hojlund has to go. Otherwise, it fits for Hojlund. I'm hearing that the player would be keen on staying at Manchester United.”

Hojlund was linked with a move to Inter Milan last month and, according to GIVEMESPORT sources, Amorim would prefer to offload him to make room for a new number nine this summer.

The Portuguese manager reportedly believes Hojlund does not have the potential to deliver enough goals for the team, after scoring just 26 times in 95 appearances across two seasons.

Man United remain focused on rebuilding Amorim’s frontline this summer, with talks ongoing for the signing of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

The Red Devils have seen their first two bids for the Cameroon international rejected, with the latest offer reaching £62.5m, similar to what they paid for Matheus Cunha last month.
