Everton want Thierno Barry deal done quickly – ‘Legendary’ David Moyes behind rush

Everton want to complete their move for Thierno Barry today or on Wednesday so he can join David Moyes’ squad for pre-season as soon as possible.

That’s [according to El Periodico Mediterráneo](https://www.elperiodicomediterraneo.com/villarreal-cf/2025/07/08/venta-barry-everton-inminente-embolsara-villarreal-119478460.html), who report that Everton want to announce the striker on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.

They pick up on reports that Barry is closing on his move to Everton, which have stated that he’s flown to England for a medical with the Toffees.

That was followed by claims Everton wanted it done in the next few hours and El Periodico Mediterráneo say the same. According to their information Everton have been bidding for the striker for nearly a month and are now one step away from signing him.

There has been several weeks of back and forth between themselves and Villarreal up to this point. The Spanish side let it be known that they would only sell Barry for a figure close to his €40m release clause.

The two clubs have now reached an agreement in principle that should be finalised in the coming hours. Everton want to make the signing official either today, Tuesday or tomorrow, Wednesday, so that Barry can be a part of Everton’s pre-season as soon as possible.

The newspaper even throws in some big praise for David Moyes, labelling him a ‘legendary manager’. He seems to be driving the deal for Barry and getting him to the club as soon as possible.

That deal will be for a fixed fee of €32m plus a series of highly feasible variables that could add another €6m to the price down the line.
