Report: Everton now ready to make 'eye-catching' move for Man City player, talks are underway

Everton are ready to get busy in the summer transfer market.

The upcoming season is set to be a very exciting one for the Toffees as they prepare to move into their new stadium, and the arrival of David Moyes at the Merseyside club has created a feel-good factor, as the Scottish coach’s arrival during the previous term saw a big upshift in form.

Everton’s board now want to back the 62-year-old with new stars, and they have already shown an interest in Man City star Jack Grealish.

Moyes would be the perfect coach for Grealish and would play a big role in helping turn the winger’s form around; however, the Scottish coach is keen on another Manchester City star.

Moyes is said to be a big admirer of the 22-year-old and will be happy to know that Everton have already started talks to try and bring the Englishman to Merseyside.

Everton have a “number of ambitious targets, with a £25m move for Manchester City’s James McAtee among the more eye-catching moves being considered,” Mark Douglas wrote.

McAtee’s value will have increased during the summer after the Man City star impressed with England’s U21s, as Lee Carsley’s men won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Everton will face tough competition for McAtee over the coming weeks, with several clubs in Germany also considering a move for the Man City midfielder.

James McAtee is keen on a move to the Bundesliga

The report states that Borussia Dortmund are interested in McAtee; however, the German giants are just one of several Bundesliga clubs keen on the Man City star.

Stuttgart are another club interested in signing McAtee ahead of the 25/26 campaign; however, the German club may struggle to land the 22-year-old due to their lack of European football.

The Englishman is keen on a move to the Bundesliga as it will allow the midfielder to play regular Champions League football, while also being the perfect place to develop as a footballer.

Therefore, Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt have an advantage in the race for McAtee, which means Everton will need to move fast if they are to sign the Man City star.
