Former West Brom full-back looking to earn new deal with Championship rivals after injury hell

The academy centre back was converted to a right back - and was first choice during the first half of the campaign that ended with Albion being promoted back to the Premier League.

He suffered an injury set back before joining Crystal Palace that summer.

However, his Palace career was a tale of injury woes - and he hardly played a game before he was released in June 2024.

Since then, Ferguson had dropped off the radar as he searched for another club.

However, the former England Under 20 international looks to have re-emerged onto the scene ahead of the new season.

It has been reported that 12 months on from his exit from Palace - he is currently on trial with Portsmouth.

Ferguson is taking part in Portsmouth's pre-season training camp in Slovakia with the hopes of earning himself a deal.

A story of injury woes

Ferguson played 21 times for Albion - and that led to Palace coming calling in January 2020.

But the move fell through when he suffered a knee injury.

However, when his contract ran out at the end of the campaign, Palace came back in for the defender and he went on to sign a three year deal with the club.

Because of his age, Albion were able to take Palace to a tribunal over a transfer fee and were awarded £900,000 for Ferguson.

But after leaving Albion his career hit the buffers.

He suffered a serious knee injury which was followed by a thigh problem towards the end of the year.

After a lengthy period out, it would be on December 26 the following year when Ferguson made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham.

However, due to further injuries he would never make a first team appearance again.

He featured for the under 23s, his injury woes continued before the club made the decision in June 2024 to release Ferguson
