Manchester United's players began to return to the club for pre-season training on Monday as Ruben Amorim gears up for his first full season in charge.

New signings and were among those who returned to Carrington for the first day of pre-season testing.

The work will begin to ramp up ahead of first pre-season friendly against Leeds United at Stockholm's Friends Arena next Saturday, with a number of United's international players continuing to return to the club in the coming days.

That opening pre-season match is often an opportunity for some of the club's under-21 and under-18 stars to showcase their ability for the first team as the club's senior stars continue to build their fitness.

And this month's clash against Leeds is set to be no different and we were perhaps given our first hint of which youngsters will be involved.

United revealed on their club website that Tyler Fredricson, Shea Lacey, Bendito Mantato and Reece Munro, were involved in the opening session of the summer.

Alongside teenage new signing Leon, as well as Amad, they formed a rondo which Amorim joined in with as the five youngsters looked to impress the Ivorian international and the United boss.

Fredricson, 20, made the step up to the first team last season and made two starts in the Premier League towards the end of last season.

Defender Munro, 18, and forward Lacey, 18, were among the group that travelled to South East Asia for United's end of season tour in May, and they have been handed another opportunity with the first team.

And Mantato, 17, was named on the bench of both legs of United's Europa League semi-final win over Athletic Bilbao. United have high hopes over his future.

It remains unclear whether Leon, who joined from Cerro Porteno in a deal that could be worth up to £7million, will be with the under-21 side or the first team initially. He was involved in first team training this week and could be afforded an opportunity to impress in Stockholm.

While it's not guaranteed they will be involved next weekend against Leeds, it offers a big hint that they are in Amorim's thinking and United think highly enough of them to be in and around the first team sessions this summer.
