Leeds United are keeping a close eye on Beto’s situation at Everton after David Moyes’ side agreed a deal to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Moyes is set to make a decision about the 27-year-old’s future.

Reports have revealed Barry is expected on Merseyside for a medical, while the Toffees are believed to be considering signing another striker following his arrival.

Football Insider revealed on 5 July that Everton are interested in Millwall star Mihailo Ivanovic and could compete with the likes of Wolves and Lazio for his signature.

As a result, there is a growing feeling that Beto could be allowed to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer, placing a number of interested clubs on alert.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in May that Beto is on Leeds’ shortlist of strikers as they aim to bolster Daniel Farke’s squad with attacking reinforcements.

Leeds eye Beto deal after Everton exit decision

Football Insider revealed in January that Everton were looking to sell Beto in a bid to raise funds which would be reinvested into the playing squad.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Leeds are prepared to make an offer should the forward become available.

“*To be perfectly honest, I’ve never thought Beto was good enough,*” he told Football Insider.

“Everton are pushing ahead with signing a new striker, so it looks like they might share that view.

“Obviously, they’ve lost Calvert-Lewin, but from what I hear the new striker is going to go straight into the starting XI which would push Beto out.

“One team who we have spoken about before looking at Beto is Leeds.

“We know they want to sign a new striker and he’s one of the names on their radar.

“They’ll be keeping a close eye on things at Everton and I’m sure if he becomes available they’ll be interested in bringing him in.”

Johnstone, Pope, Ramsdale: Farke eyes goalkeeper deals

Alongside their ambitions to strengthen up front, Leeds have also set their sights on a new goalkeeper as they aim to upgrade on the error-prone Illan Meslier.

Brown told Football Insider on 8 July that Sunderland have joined Leeds’ interest in Sam Johnstone, who would be interested in leaving Wolves this summer.

The goalkeeper made just seven Premier League appearances at Molineux after his £10million move from Crystal Palace last year.

Meanwhile, former Leeds keeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Leeds are eyeing Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale to strengthen between the sticks.
