Real Madrid fans have not seen much of Rodrygo at all in the Club World Cup.
Actually, they have not seen much of the Brazilian star's magic ever since he got substituted against Barcelona in the final of the Copa Del Rey.
It remains to be seen what happens with Rodrygo's future, as it is very much up in the air at the moment.
He may stay, he may leave. It will not be confirmed until a good few weeks after the Club World Cup ends.
Rodrygo may leave Real Madrid, and their plan makes sense
However, Real Madrid have their Rodrygo succession plan ready should he leave the club before the start of next season, or before September.
According to a report from The Athletic, Real Madrid, at this moment, do not intend to sign anyone to replace Rodrygo, should he leave.
That is surprising, given the amount of money they will get for the player, and for the importance he has had in the last few years.
However, it is also the most sensible decision Real Madrid could have made.
They have already signed Argentine winger Franco Mastantuono, and if Real Madrid really need a forward to play there consistently, it will be him before anyone else.
Real Madrid do not need a replacement, either way. They have some really good players and the money a Rodrygo transfer would get them is better spent on other positions.
Real Madrid still need a new left-back to go alongside Fran Garcia, who is having an amazing season. They also may need to sign a new central defender or a midfielder, depending on who is counted upon by Alonso from this current crop of players.
It remains to be seen what happens with Rodrygo, but rather than signing a forward just for the sake of it, that money is better off being spent on positions Real Madrid actually need reinforcements for.
