Fenerbahce are preparing for next season, fighting to topple Galatasaray from the top of the Super Lig.

Galatasaray have won the Turkish league for the last three years running, holding the record for most titles won with 25.

As for Fenerbahce, it’s been eleven years since they were last crowned champions of Turkey, however, Jose Mourinho is trying to change that.

The Special One has already signed former Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina as well as signing Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr.

Now, Fenerbahce are launching a bid for Udinese attacker Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez has been with Udinese since last year when he arrived on a free transfer from Inter Milan after a string of free agent moves, seeing him bounce from Manchester United to Inter, to Marseille and back to Inter.

Italian publication Gazzetta has now reported that the 36-year-old could now end up in Turkey with Fenerbahce, as Mourinho’s side is offering a very lucrative contract.

The one-year deal would see Sanchez earn £3.5 million (€4 million), including a clause to automatically extend his contract if one of two criteria are met.

Firstly, for Sanchez to play 70% of all minutes played by the club through the season, or if the Chile international contributes to at least 15 goals.

A 15 goal season was an easy feat for Alexis Sanchez of old, having completed this in the league alone eight seasons running between 2010/11 and 2017/18, with a year at Udinese, three with Barcelona and three with Arsenal, and the 2017/18 across both Arsenal and United when he moved in the winter transfer window.

However, his last two seasons have seen him fall significantly short of the mark, last season getting no goal contributions in 13 games.

As such, should he decide to move to Fenerbahce, the Chile international would need to lace up his former goalscoring boots to get a second year on the contract.
