On Monday, Leeds United target Gabriel Gudmundsson arrived to sort out the final details of his move. The deal is yet to be announced, but everything is expected to go smoothly.
Almost all of Leeds’ transfers this summer have gone on without a hitch. This is because the club sell the project to targets to gain their interest even before making a final offer. This happened with Habib Diarra; the player was not too keen on joining Leeds, so the Whites did not match Sunderland’s £30million offer.

Gudmundsson will arrive to fill the left back slot vacated after Junior Firpo left the club on a free transfer. Leeds also received a huge boost, as reports indicate that Sam Byram will sign a new deal at Elland Road.

Signing Gudmundsson alongside Byram’s return will meant that Leeds finally have some depth in the fullback area. But it looks like the Whites could add one more in the position.
According to Caught Offside, Leeds hold some interest in signing El Hadji Malick Diouf from Slavia Prague. Primarily a full back, the Senegalese international is versatile and can play a variety of roles. Diouf can play left back, wingback and even as a winger.
Reports indicate it would take a bid around £21.6million to secure his services this summer.
West Ham interest, as coach speaks on player’s future
According to the report, West Ham are also interested in the 20-year old. The Hammers have reportedly had a bid rejected, but are still working on a potential deal.
Slavia Prague coach Jindřich Trpišovský has already admitted that he thinks Diouf will be sold this summer:
“We’re all thinking about a transfer. It’s a matter of time. The club’s management is taking care of it. Malick has an individual program,”
“We don’t want to take any risks. He’s a player with extraordinary qualities. Slavia’s demands must be met, but we believe he will leave. I think those who are here will stay at Slavia. Except for Malick,”
Diouf would be a good fit
With Diouf, Leeds could sign one player for multiple positions. Even as a left back, he is a very attacking player. He could replace the threat Junior Firpo had down the left flank.

This past season in the Czech league, he had a high number of key passes, and touches in the opposition box. His crossing accuracy also showed that he is happy to put balls into the box. This is exactly the type of profile Leeds need to replace Firpo’s production next season.
