Arsenal are preparing for a major squad shake-up this summer, with multiple reports indicating that Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all likely to leave the Emirates Stadium in the coming weeks.

Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira has failed to live up to expectations since his £34 million move from FC Porto in 2022. Despite occasional flashes of creativity, the 25-year-old has struggled to secure a regular role under Mikel Arteta, falling behind Martin Ødegaard in the pecking order.

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s influence in Arteta’s system has waned considerably over the past season. Once integral to Arsenal’s build-up play, the 28-year-old has seen his role diminish due to the rise of youth prospect Myles Lewis-Skelly and the expected arrival of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

The Times reports that Zinchenko is no longer considered part of Arsenal’s long-term vision, with Fulham interested in a potential double swoop involving him and Reiss Nelson. Zinchenko’s experience and tactical versatility are expected to attract further interest from clubs across Europe.

Arsenal academy graduate Reiss Nelson is also expected to move on this summer after a frustrating loan spell at Fulham during the 2024/25 campaign. The 25-year-old winger has struggled to find consistent playing time and is now evaluating his options.

Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, also 25, is another player on the chopping block. After a mixed loan spell at Sevilla, Lokonga is expected to leave permanently this summer. Genoa are again named among the interested clubs, with Patrick Vieira reportedly eager to reunite with the player he previously managed at Crystal Palace. While Arsenal are open to a sale, a loan move is also being considered. Lokonga’s energy and pressing ability could make him a useful asset elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are in advanced negotiations to sign Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, with a deal for Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard already secured. The Gunners are also targeting further reinforcements, including Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

Having already parted ways with Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney, and Takehiro Tomiyasu, this latest wave of departures reflects Mikel Arteta’s and the club’s recruitment team’s determined efforts to reshape the squad into a more dynamic and balanced unit ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
