Newcastle United have agreed a £55m fee with Nottingham Forest for Anthony Elanga, with reports saying the deal could be completed as early this week.

Newcastle are looking to bolster their attack going into the new season, especially having returned to Champions League football.

The Swedish winger contributed six goals and 11 assists to Forest's successful 2024-25 Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have signed Japan international defender Kota Takai from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale.

The 20-year-old has agreed a five-year deal but Spurs have yet to disclose a fee.

Takai made his international debut in September in a 7-0 World Cup qualifying win over China having helped his club side to an eighth-placed finish domestically last season.

Everton are closing in on the signing of Villarreal striker Thierno Barry for a fee in the region of £27m.

Negotiations are progressing positively and it has been reported that Barry is expected on Merseyside to complete a medical.

It is understood the 22-year-old Frenchman had a £34.5m release clause in his Villarreal contract, but Everton are hoping to complete the deal for a lower fee.

Barry scored 11 goals in 35 La Liga appearances last season as Villarreal secured Champions League football after finishing fifth.

Everton boss David Moyes is hoping to boost his strike force following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the end of his contract, while forward Armando Broja returned to Chelsea after last season's loan spell.

In other transfer news, Newly promoted Leeds United have acquired the services of Lille left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson on a four-year deal for £10m.

The Sweden international made 45 appearances for Lille last season with the French outfit finishing fifth in Ligue 1, narrowly missing out on a Champions League football.
