Warriors Linked to Potential Trade With Bucks

NBA free agency has been buzzing with moves, but the Golden State Warriors have taken a more cautious route so far. After missing out on several top-tier free agents, the team remains focused on building around its current core. While they’ve made a few depth additions, Golden State’s big decision still revolves around Jonathan Kuminga and the trade chatter around him isn’t slowing down.

The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly explored sign-and-trade scenarios to land Kuminga, according to league sources. While it’s not clear how aggressive their pursuit is, the idea of pairing Kuminga with Giannis Antetokounmpo has intrigued many. However, getting a deal done won’t be easy.

According to reports, the Warriors aren’t interested in Kyle Kuzma, a name floated in potential multi-team trades. So if Milwaukee really wants to make progress, they’d likely have to attach a 2031 first-round pick and a young prospect to make things appealing for Golden State.

Forbes NBA Contributor Evan Sidery made his views clear on Kuminga. " The Bucks have explored sign-and-trade scenarios to obtain Jonathan Kuminga," he wrote.

Right now, Kuminga’s market appears stalled. He’s stuck in restricted free agency, and according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, things have gone “ice cold.” With no significant offer sheets in sight, Slater says the Warriors and Kuminga might settle for a short-term “compromise contract” that could be traded after December 15. “All of the market dynamics at play will lead him back to the Warriors on a compromise contract,” Slater said on AM 1140.

That would give Kuminga time to prove his value before the trade window opens again midseason. It’s not an ideal outcome for either party, but it keeps options open for both a role in Golden State or a future move elsewhere. For now, all eyes remain on how this next contract shapes up.
