It’s the time of year for the annual NBA Summer League, and while there are a handful of former Ohio State basketball players set to play this summer, there’s one in particular who has been on a tear in the early Summer League action.

Brice Sensabaugh put together a masterclass performance last night in the Salt Lake City Summer League in a comeback win by the Utah Jazz setting the league's scoring record with 37 points on 9-14 shooting from the field, connected on six threes and got to the free throw line frequently going 13-14 from there. He was also effective on the defensive side of the ball with two steals, one of which came in the final seconds, that helped in securing the win.
The former Buckeye forward was scoring in any way that he wanted to with dazzling step-back threes off the dribble and on the catch-and-shoot. He also attacked the basket and had strong finishes at the rim.
Last night was a continuation from Utah’s first Summer League game, where Sensabaugh put in 19 points on 7-13 shooting and 5-8 from deep. Both performances lead to Ws in the win column.
It’s awesome to see Sensabaugh play at this high level. He’s entering his third year in the NBA with the Utah Jazz, and even after appearing in 71 games last season, he wanted to get more work in the Summer League, which the Jazz organization has to love from one of their young core pieces.
While it’s only been two games, Sensabaugh is looking like a serious breakout candidate for next season in the NBA. He averaged 10.9 points per game on 46/42/89 shooting splits last year for the Jazz. With how good the development process in Utah has been, I expect those numbers to make a significant jump.
